This is a heads-up type of story that goes along with the book mentioned in my signature.

And a plug for anti-oxidants, preferably in food, but I currently add Timed Release Vit C and some CoEnzyme Q10. Apparently Vit C should not be taken with fats.

A VERY good article! Thanks! Whatever happened to doing a culture first and then a multiple antibiotic profile to see what is the best one for the job with the least chance of adversely affecting the body?
Broad spectrum antibiotics are NOT the answer. Keep your gut healthy! It is the largest part of our natural immune system.

The gut microbiome is practically an organ unto itself, weighing about as much as the liver. It is thought to play a critical role in priming the immune system, and it produces just as many neurotransmitters as the human brain. Genetic and environmental factors, including antibiotics, shape its makeup early in life. Then, around age 3, a quasi-stability sets in and we are “stuck with that architecture,” says Gautam Dantas, a microbiologist at Washington University in St. Louis, Missouri.

That was a fabulous link! It will be interesting to follow up on the health of those in the study.
Especially those preemies that were born by Caesarean and who didn’t receive antibiotics versus those preemies that were born by Caesarean who did. This is a slippery slope because, in either case, the babies weren’t “colonized” properly with the bacteria from the mother through the birth canal. And that’s already a bad start to establishing a healthy bio dome.
